Abstract

This report is the second biennial progress report on the implementation of the Principles for Responsible Banking, reflecting on the initial four-year implementation period. Its purpose is to synthesise reporting from 245 member banks to showcase their collective progress in aligning business strategies with global societal goals and international climate agreements. The scope includes member banks’ commitment to integrating sustainability into governance, strategy, target setting, and client engagement. Using individual bank reports, the analysis evaluates current performance in areas such as climate change mitigation, financial inclusion, and nature-related activities. Key findings indicate that most member banks have successfully aligned public strategies with global sustainability frameworks, though accelerated action is necessary to address intensifying social and environmental crises effectively.
