Integrated Assessment of Air Pollution and Climate Change for Sustainable Development in Africa - Chapter 3

Chapter 3 presents an integrated assessment of how pursuing an Agenda 2063 pathway in Africa can jointly improve air quality and address climate change. It describes a scenario-modelling approach comparing a baseline with mitigation scenarios that include measures across transport, household energy, power generation and industry, agriculture, land-use and forestry, and waste. It reports modelled projections of population-weighted PM2.5 and tropospheric ozone exposure across African regions and estimates associated premature mortality. The chapter also presents climate-response results for temperature and precipitation, including reduced drying in several regions relative to the baseline.
