Abstract

This document summarizes a set of East Africa projects implemented between 2014 and 2023 to address elephant poaching, illegal ivory trade, and human–elephant conflict across Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda, including one multi-country cooperation initiative. It describes activities such as strengthening field intelligence, investigations, evidence handling, patrol operations, and prosecutorial capacity; training enforcement, customs, and judiciary personnel; and improving surveillance and communications for protected-area operations. Several projects focus on conflict mitigation through fencing, community support, and data collection on crop damage and elephant movements.
