Abstract

This case study examines how environmental data and policy coherence supported implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in Bangladesh through a collaborative initiative led by the United Nations Environment Programme and national partners. It outlines the national policy context, institutional arrangements and environmental data systems, identifying challenges related to data quality, coordination, capacity and reporting. The document describes activities undertaken to strengthen environmental statistics, improve policy integration, enhance institutional collaboration and support national reporting on the Sustainable Development Goals. It presents the outcomes of capacity-building, inter-agency cooperation and financing initiatives, summarises the results achieved, identifies lessons learned from implementation and concludes with recommendations for strengthening environmental data management, policy coherence and institutional frameworks.
