Report of the Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production, “Plastic Pollution Control” - SwitchMed II Project in Egypt, Policy Component

As part of the launch of the SwitchMed-II Project in Egypt, a roundtable discussion on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) was held on the 9th of May 2023. The theme of the meeting was “Control of Plastic Pollution”. The roundtable was co-convened by the Ministry of Environment (MOE), the Waste Management Regulatory Authority (WMRA) and the Centre for Environment & Development for the Arab Region & Europe (CEDARE), under the auspices of the EU-SwitchMed Programme and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The roundtable included two dialogue sessions on pollution resulting from the waste of plastic packaging materials, with a focus on the excessive use of single-use plastic bags (SUPBs) and actions taken to reduce their pollution.
