COBSEA Webinar on the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework

Abstract

The Conference of Parties (COP) of the Convention of Biological Diversity has set out the process to develop a post-2020 global biodiversity framework, for consideration at COP 151. The Framework will build on outcomes and lessons learned from implementation of the Biodiversity Strategic Plan 2011-2020 and its Aichi Biodiversity Targets. The aim of the Framework is to galvanize transformative action by Governments and all of society to put biodiversity on a path to recovery, for the benefit of people and the planet. Negotiations on the zero draft of the framework2 are coordinated by an open-ended working group. The Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice provides assessments of possible framework elements while the Subsidiary Body on Implementation will review and strengthen framework implementation. The process for developing the framework includes global, regional and thematic consultations preceding COP 15.
