Abstract
This report provides a comprehensive assessment of environmental conditions, policies, and management systems in Kyrgyzstan, focusing on pollution, natural resource use, and their impacts on human health. It reviews legal and institutional frameworks, including environmental legislation, policy objectives, and administrative responsibilities, alongside instruments such as environmental impact assessment procedures. The analysis examines key environmental pressures, particularly air pollution, water contamination, and industrial emissions, supported by monitoring data and sectoral observations. It identifies significant health risks linked to environmental degradation and evaluates existing monitoring and regulatory approaches, highlighting limitations in data quality, technical capacity, and implementation structures while outlining current national plans and programmes addressing environmental and health challenges.
