The Afghanistan Resilience Consortium (ARC)

This fact sheet describes the Afghanistan Resilience Consortium and the project Strengthening the Resilience of Afghanistan’s Vulnerable Communities against Natural Disasters. It explains how decades of conflict, poverty, displacement and environmental mismanagement have increased disaster risk in rural areas. The four-year SRACAD initiative, supported by DFID, combines national and sub-national institutional strengthening, policy planning and coordination with disaster risk reduction and humanitarian assistance.
