Code of Ethics on the International Trade in Chemicals

This publication provides guidance for private sector parties, complements existing international legal instruments and industry codes in the field. The result of a series of consultative meetings with industry and others, the Code consists of: general provisions (e.g., objective, definitions, exemptions, formal commitment) general principles (e.g., cooperation, life cycle approach, local community involvement) guidance for the implementation of the principles (e.g., reducing risk, testing and assessment, quality assurance, classification/packaging/labeling, provision of information, education/training and advertising/marketing) and suggestions for monitoring and follow-up.
