One UN Common Approach to Early Warning for Environment

This document outlines a United Nations common approach to Early Warning for Environment, developed to protect developing countries and, with EW4ALL, reduce disaster risks arising from the triple planetary crisis of climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss. It grounds the case in quantified impacts, including over 6.7 million premature deaths annually from air pollution, 99% of people breathing polluted air, and an estimated 8.1 trillion dollars in economic losses, while noting that one million species face extinction and billions are affected by land degradation. It presents linkages between biodiversity, climate, and human well-being; describes AI, geospatial, and IoT-enabled early-warning systems for air quality and nature; and proposes a phased pathway from data collection to decision support.
