Abstract

This document describes a proposal advocating agroecology as a nature-based approach to reform food systems that have contributed to soil depletion, water pollution, farm loss, and public health harms. It defines agroecology as combining innovation and tradition while centering ecological science, food security, nutrition, human rights, climate resilience, and sustainable development, and it reports policy and program examples across India, Africa, and the Americas, alongside growing engagement within the FAO. It outlines intended outcomes including biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, improved food security, and better health and nutrition, and it explains the AgroEcology Fund’s global role, stakeholder governance, funding mechanisms, monitoring indicators, and communication strategy.
