Guidance Manuel for TEEB Country Studies: version 1.0

This manual provides technical and operational guidance for countries undertaking a TEEB Country Study, covering the full study cycle from initiation and policy analysis through ecosystem service valuation, communication of findings, follow-up, and application of results. It is intended for researchers and decision-makers at national and sub-national levels who are considering or undertaking a TEEB Country Study. The manual outlines steps, directions, guidelines, and quality and completeness criteria for studies seeking formal endorsement as TEEB Country Studies by the TEEB Advisory Board. It is not prescriptive and emphasises adaptation to each country’s circumstances and objectives. The manual was developed by the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research, United Nations Environment Programme, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, and Institute for European Environmental Policy, and launched on 28 May 2013.
