Resilience of Ecosystem and Ecosystem Services Outlook

This outlook report provides a regional outlook on the resilience of ecosystems and ecosystem services in Asia and the Pacific in the context of climate change. It outlines the region’s high vulnerability due to climate impacts combined with pollution, biodiversity loss, and development pressures, and highlights the critical role ecosystems play in supporting livelihoods, food security, water regulation, and disaster risk reduction. The document focuses on oceans and coasts, forests, and mountains, describing their current condition, climate-related risks, and resilience-building responses. It is structured around five enabling areas—policy and governance, planning, science, technologies, and finance—and identifies opportunities to catalyse transformative adaptation through systems-based, inclusive, and ecosystem-centred approaches.
