Abstract

This presentation outlines a social enterprise model established in 2016 that focuses on restoring communal rangelands in Africa through livestock production support and improved market access. It describes a system where farmers collaborate with organisations to implement ecologically appropriate grazing plans, supported by training, monitoring, and conservation agreements. The approach links environmental degradation with poverty and promotes rotational grazing and herder-led ecosystem recovery. Activities include livestock support services, auction training, and mobile infrastructure such as abattoirs. The model emphasises market access as an incentive, alongside job creation, climate resilience, and small business development within rural communities.
