Here and now! education for sustainable consumption: recommendations and guidelines

This publication addresses the limited integration of sustainable development and sustainable consumption into educational systems despite increased awareness of human impacts on the environment and the broader consequences of individual lifestyle choices. It provides recommendations and guidelines organized into two main chapters. The first chapter, “Addressing the Challenges,” is intended for policymakers and presents the rationale for education for sustainable consumption, together with suggestions for developing action plans. The second chapter, “Optimizing Opportunities,” is directed towards educational authorities, teacher trainers, teachers, and educators and focuses on opportunities to strengthen education for sustainable consumption within educational settings.
