Adaptation Gap Report 2021 - Chapter 4

This chapter updates the adaptation finance gap for developing countries by reviewing recent evidence on adaptation costs, country needs identified in National Adaptation Plans and Nationally Determined Contributions, and global adaptation finance flows. It compares these estimates to assess the potential scale and evolution of the finance gap, while recognising the challenges of measuring both costs and finance flows. The chapter therefore provides insights rather than new estimates. It also examines progress and opportunities to bridge the gap, including developments since the 2020 edition of the Adaptation Gap Report.
