Unlocking Trade in Environmentally Sound Technologies to Tackle Air Pollution

This document explains how reducing trade barriers can accelerate uptake of environmentally sound technologies to cut air pollution from fossil-fuel electricity production worldwide. It notes major societal and environmental costs, including around 6.5 million premature deaths annually, and highlights solar photovoltaic, small-scale hydro, geothermal, and wind. It describes tariffs and non-tariff barriers that impede clean technology flows and calls for policy action to remove them and harmonize standards.
