Reduction Of Demand For Mercury In Mercury Containing Products In Bangladesh

This report presents a project implemented by the Environment and Social Development Organization in Bangladesh to reduce demand for mercury in products, supporting national efforts toward ratifying and implementing the Minamata Convention on Mercury. It outlines objectives focused on identifying mercury-added products, promoting alternatives, raising awareness, and strengthening waste management capacity. Methods included surveys, consultations, workshops, and literature review. Findings highlight increased awareness, policy engagement, stakeholder cooperation, and identification of priority product sectors and substitution opportunities.
