Validated Terminal Review of the UNEP-GEF Project Expansion and Improvement of Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Use of Natural Resources in the Greater Shennonjia Area, Hubei Province, China (GEF ID 4865) 2018-2024

This report is a management-led Terminal Review of a UNEP/GEF project implemented between 2018 and 2024. The project's overall development goal was to enhance (conservation) management effectiveness of National Nature Reserves (NNRs) in Hubei province, as well as the mainstreaming of biodiversity conservation and value of ecosystem services in economic development plans and sectors. The review sought to assess project performance (in terms of relevance, effectiveness and efficiency), and determine outcomes and impacts (actual and potential) stemming from the project, including their sustainability. The review has two primary purposes: (i) to provide evidence of results to meet accountability requirements, and (ii) to promote learning, feedback, and knowledge sharing through results and lessons learned among UNEP, GEF and the relevant agencies of the Project in Hubei Province, China.
