Adaptation Gap Report 2023: The Pacific heat dome: Heatwave lessons from the United States of America – Case Study

Given that the magnitude and patterns of morbidity and mortality associated with the multiple extreme heatwaves that occurred in 2023 are still being determined, it is instructive to examine the human health consequences of a heatwave that affected the north-western United States of America and Canada over several days in late June and July 2021.
