Abstract

UNEP’s International Methane Emissions Observatory supports measurement and research studies around the world to close the knowledge gap on methane emissions and provide policy-relevant insights to decisionmakers. The following study provides insights related to: Improving satellite detection of offshore emissions to increase rapid alert and response capabilities. The following study provides insights related to: Combining aerial and on-site measurements to determine causes, frequency and extent of methane emissions in British Columbia. The following study provides insights related to: Measuring coal mine emissions to improve global inventories and enable mitigation. The following study provides insights related to: The first independent local study in the Caspian region to characterize emissions and mitigation potential in detail. The following study provides insights related to: Addressing a critical lack of actionable methane measurement data in Colombia. The following study provides insights related to: Leveraging area mapper and point source satellite data to provide continuous, high-frequency methane emission monitoring on a global scale. The following study provides insights related to: Leveraging satellite observations to quantify methane emissions and improve emissions inventories.
