Greenhouse Gas Inventory Workbook - IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories Volume 2

Abstract

This report provides methodological guidance for compiling national inventories of greenhouse gas emissions and removals in support of international climate reporting requirements. The present guidelines were approved by the Scientific Assessment Working Group of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change at Maastricht in September 1994 and subsequently adopted at its tenth session in Nairobi in November 1994, representing an initial step towards establishing widely understood methodologies for inventory construction. The document forms part of a broader set of guidance designed to assist countries in planning, calculating and documenting inventories using a consistent framework. It outlines procedures for estimating emissions of carbon dioxide, methane and other trace gases across major sectors including energy, industrial processes, agriculture, land use change and forestry, and waste, using standardised calculation methods, default emission factors and structured worksheets to support comparable reporting and progressive improvement of inventory practices.
