The analysis in the sixth Global Environment Outlook of environmental policies and their integration demonstrates the diversity of the institutional and cultural frameworks within which policymaking takes place. The roles of law, societal values, administrative capacity, and socioeconomic conditions are important in determining policy effectiveness.
