Sustainable management of Morocco’s marine resources

This report describes a programme on the sustainable management of Morocco’s marine resources implemented by the Association of Integrated Resource Management in several protected marine and coastal areas. It presents the use of participatory planning and an ecosystem-based approach to address climate adaptation, food security, and disaster risk reduction linked to fisheries degradation. The document outlines the methodological framework used to define shared objectives, indicators, and action plans, and explains how artisanal fishermen were involved in monitoring, threat reduction, and co-management. It summarizes actions to eliminate destructive fishing practices, raise awareness, establish no-take zones, and improve livelihoods, and reports ecological, social, and economic outcomes achieved through these measures.
