Abstract
This training manual provides a structured programme for training trainers to integrate gender perspectives into community-based water and energy management initiatives in rural Himalayan regions. It consolidates lessons, training materials, and participatory approaches developed through a regional project implemented in Bhutan, India, and Nepal, and explains concepts of gender, gender analysis, social mobilisation, participatory action research, organisational capacity building, and planning. The manual presents practical training sessions, case studies, analytical frameworks, worksheets, and planning tools that enable participants to assess gender roles, identify community needs, develop gender-sensitive participatory action plans, promote income-generating activities, and strengthen women’s participation in decision-making, implementation, and management of water and energy resources.
