ASEAN Environment Programme III (ASEP III), 1988-1992: Phase III of the Regional Collaborative Programme on Environment of the ASEAN Countries

This document is the Phase III of the ASEAN Environment Programme (1988–1992) prepared by the ASEAN Experts Group on the Environment with support from the United Nations Environment Programme. It describes the historical context of environmental cooperation in ASEAN, outlines objectives and policy guidelines for environmental management, and establishes priority areas including environmental management, nature conservation, industry and the environment, marine environment, urban environment, and education and training. The programme sets specific goals to integrate environmental considerations into regional development planning, strengthen institutional frameworks, foster cooperation among member states, and promote demonstration projects. It also reviews institutional arrangements, programme implementation mechanisms, and proposed projects for achieving sustainable development across the ASEAN region.
