The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Dams and Development Project (DDP) convened an issue-based workshop on comprehensive options assessment, which was the second Strategic Priority identified by the World Commission on Dams, on September 22-24 2003 in Geneva, Switzerland. One of the recommendations that came out of the workshop was that the DDP should publish and make available the case studies that were assembled for inclusion in the background document for the workshop, several of which were also presented for discussion at the workshop.en
