This report examines the status of walking and cycling policies and practices in low- and middle-income countries, focusing on Africa, Asia and Latin America. It presents findings from a review of existing literature, a stakeholder survey, policy and document collection, and analysis of national non-motorised transport policies. The report assesses the extent to which walking and cycling are recognised and supported within transport policy, identifies differences between regions and countries, and presents a non-motorised transport index. It also considers the treatment of vulnerable groups within African policies and provides country-level summaries of policy conditions, institutional arrangements, infrastructure, investment and related measures concerning walking and cycling.en
