Abstract
This quarterly report provides an overview of programme implementation, significant developments and resource management for the period July to September 2020, submitted to the Committee of Permanent Representatives. It describes the United Nations Environment Programme’s response to the coronavirus pandemic through scientific assessment, guidance on waste management, support for national adaptation planning and promotion of a green recovery. The report details global and regional engagement on biodiversity, climate change, pollution, resource efficiency and environmental governance, including support to ministerial meetings, international forums and new financing initiatives. It summarises progress across thematic areas such as ecosystem restoration, chemicals and waste management, air quality, disaster response and environmental monitoring, highlighting partnerships, capacity-building activities and knowledge products. Financial information is presented on income, allocations and expenditure across core and earmarked funding, alongside an overview of funding partners. Human resources data include staffing levels, gender distribution and regional representation. The report also outlines evaluation activities and notes operational constraints and project implementation delays associated with the pandemic.
