The National Environmental Policy for 2009-2012 amd Its 2016 Outlook

This document outlines the strategic environmental agenda of Poland for the years 2009 to 2012, with a forward-looking perspective through 2016. It is prepared in accordance with the Act of 27 April 2001 on the Environmental Protection Law (Official Journal z 2008, No. 25, Item 150, further amended), which mandates the development of the National Environmental Policy every four years, including a four-year outlook. This approach follows the precedent set on 8 May 2003, when the Parliament approved the National Environmental Policy for 2003–2006 and its 2016 Outlook. Framed within evolving national priorities and European Union obligations, the document delivers a comprehensive analysis of environmental progress, persistent challenges, and strategic pathways. It addresses key areas such as air and water quality, waste management, biodiversity protection, sustainable forestry, and climate action.
