dc.descriptionThis report is a desk-based study of the UNEP/GEF marine plastics project (GEF project ID 9681) implemented from 2017 to 2020. The project's overall development goal was to capitalize on a growing baseline of knowledge on marine plastics sources, pathways, and environmental impacts to inform the GEF and the application of a systemic approach to global plastic issues. The study sought to assess project performance (in terms of relevance, effectiveness and efficiency), and determine outcomes and impacts (actual and potential) stemming from the project, including their sustainability. The study has two primary purposes: (i) to provide evidence of results to meet accountability requirements, and (ii) to promote learning, feedback, and knowledge sharing through results and lessons learned among UNEP, and the relevant agencies of the project.en
