Abstract
The Summary Report documents outcomes from the 8th Asia-Pacific Climate Change Adaptation Forum, held from 30 August to 1 September 2023 in Songdo, Republic of Korea, as part of Korea Global Adaptation Week 2023. It presents the forum as the biennial flagship convening of the Asia Pacific Adaptation Network, a long-standing regional platform where adaptation practitioners share experience, align priorities, and collaborate on practical solutions to climate change challenges. The report explains that the Asia Pacific Adaptation Network was launched by the United Nations Environment Programme in 2009 under the Global Adaptation Network to strengthen the expertise of regional actors in designing and implementing adaptation measures, including improved access to technologies and finance and stronger integration of adaptation into national policies, strategies, and plans. It summarises key forum messages calling for a shift from sector-by-sector approaches toward transformative implementation, systems and nexus thinking that links climate and biodiversity, and governance convergence supported by high-level political commitment and legislation. It also highlights the need to restructure adaptation finance to be more inclusive and community-centred, to strengthen data and early warning systems, and to prioritise inclusive action that places vulnerable communities at the forefront across food systems, ecosystems, communities, and cities and infrastructure.
