This document is an implementation guide on the rights of child human rights defenders, supporting national application of the Declaration on Human Rights Defenders with the Convention on the Rights of the Child. It describes how children defend human rights, the barriers they face, and how existing international rights apply to their situation. The guide draws on the Committee on the Rights of the Child’s 2018 Day of General Discussion and a global consultation with children, and is informed by an international expert advisory group. It sets out definitions, explains rights relevant to child defenders, and summarizes guidance on education, protection from harm, civil and political freedoms, child-friendly justice, remedies, and rights-based implementation through law, policy, monitoring, training, and resourcing.en
