Progress on implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management: Mid-term Status of SDG Indicator 6.5.1 and Acceleration needs, with a Special Focus on Climate Change.

This report assesses global progress towards sustainable water management through an examination of integrated water resources management implementation. It draws on survey data from 191 countries collected across three reporting rounds in 2017, 2020 and 2023. The analysis evaluates progress across policy frameworks, institutional arrangements and participation, management instruments, and financing. It identifies differences in implementation between countries and regions, highlights persistent barriers to progress, and examines the coordination of water management and climate action.
