Framework Agreement on Strategic Cooperation between the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the People's Republic of China and the United Nations Environment Programme

The overall objective of this Strategic Cooperation Agreement is to support UNEP activities designed to build the capacity of developing countries to address environmental issues and sustainably develop their economies and increase public awareness of environmental challenges, relying as much as practicable on South-South cooperation. The Ministry acts as the financial contributor, providing extra-budgetary resources, including a pledged six million United States dollars in instalments, and may supply additional funding subject to written notification. It may also participate in consultations, nominate representatives for evaluations, and request reports or reviews. The United Nations Environment Programme is responsible for administering the trust fund, implementing activities, managing procurement, and ensuring monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and financial accountability in accordance with its regulations and rules.
