This presentation document summarises the proceedings and outcomes of the Rio+20 summit held in 2012. Guided by a 2010 United Nations General Assembly decision, the summit sought to evaluate progress from previous meetings while addressing emerging global challenges. The primary focus included discussing the green economy in relation to poverty eradication and establishing an institutional framework for sustainable development. Although geopolitical shifts and economic crises initially clouded the scope, the summit initiated fifteen processes. These developments included creating sustainable development goals, the strengthening of the United Nations Environment Programme, and the assessment of financing needs. Additionally, the text highlights parallel initiatives, such as the People’s Summit and a Trade Union Assembly, which focused on social protection and decent jobs.en
