Abstract
This report, produced by the International Programme on Chemical Safety, which is a joint programme of the World Health Organization, International Labour Organization, and United Nations Environment Programme, examines the principles and methods for assessing allergic hypersensitization associated with exposure to chemicals. Published by the World Health Organization, the report covers the immune system, mechanisms of sensitization, allergic responses, autoimmunity, clinical manifestations, epidemiology, and occupational and environmental exposures. It reviews approaches for demonstrating allergenicity, including predictive testing and in vitro methods, and considers the assessment of risks to human health associated with chemical exposure.
