Baseline Information for the National Action Plan on Artisanal and Small - Scale Gold Mining: Tanzania

This document summarizes baseline information to support development of Tanzania’s National Action Plan on artisanal and small-scale gold mining under the Minamata Convention on Mercury, produced within an FAO/EC-supported project. It describes the legal and administrative framework for ASGM, including licensing, zonal and regional mining offices, and miner organization through regional associations and FEMATA, and notes an estimated workforce of over 690,000 across 10 zones.
