Proceedings and Select Outcomes on the 4th Expert forum on Disaster Related Statistics

This document summarizes proceedings and outcomes from the Fourth Global Expert Forum on producers and users of disaster-related statistics. It outlines goals, a six-session agenda, and associated events on early warning, climate adaptation data, quick-and-dirty data, and civil registration in Africa. It reports participation by 145 stakeholders from 49 countries across NDMAs, NSOs, UN bodies, and the private sector, with outputs feeding into Africa’s StatCom and UN-GGIM Africa. Conclusions call for a global framework to harmonize disaster statistics; integration of innovative technologies and geospatial methods; clearer partnership governance and interoperability; and communication on access, sensitivity, trust, and audience needs. Capacity priorities include financing strategies, approaches to remote sensing and GIS, closing skills gaps. Next steps include forthcoming report and socializing the framework ahead of fifth forum.
