dc.description	This letter and registration form present Action d’Étude et de Valorisation de l’Environnement as the submitting organisation to the United Nations Environment Programme Global Mercury Partnership, applying under the artisanal and small-scale gold mining partnership area. The organisation describes its environmental and socio-economic assessment activities in Mali and reports observations of emerging mercury use by gold washers in villages along the Falémé river, with mercury reportedly imported from Ghana. It expresses concern about environmental and health risks and indicates its intention to undertake awareness and sensitisation programmes to prevent the spread of mercury use in gold mining activities.
