dc.descriptionThis Strategy provides a framework through which United Nations Environment Programme’s support to Member States on South-South and triangular cooperation will be enhanced during the coming decade (2020-2030). The Strategy is aligned to other corporate policy documents and guidelines such as the Medium-Term Strategy and the Programme of Work, the Resource Mobilisation Strategy (2018), the Private Sector Engagement Strategy (2019), the partnerships section of United Nations Environment Programme’s Programme Manual, the Gender Equality and the Environment Policy and Strategy (2016) and the Environmental, Social and Economic Sustainability Framework. This Strategy has been developed to respond to resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly and United Nations Environment Programme’s governing bodies, the Bali Strategic Plan for Technology Support and Capacity-Building (2005), the Addis Ababa Action Agenda of the Third International Conference on Financing for Development (2015), the Nairobi Outcome Document of the High-level United Nations Conference on South-South Cooperation (2009), the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals, the Joint Inspection Unit Report on South-South and Triangular Cooperation (2011), the Outcome Document of the Second High-level United Nations Conference on South-South Cooperation, and other relevant United Nations General Assembly resolutions. This framework establishes operational guidelines to strengthen institutional delivery across environmental mandates by optimizing project design, assessment, monitoring, and evaluation cycles. By building internal capacity and refining reporting mechanisms, the organisation aims to standardise resource tracking to capture lessons learnt and enhance project replication. en
