dc.descriptionThis report aims to bring to the attention of governments and international climate negotiators (i) the views of financial institutions organised under the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), (ii) the imperative of mobilising private investment and private sector engagement in the implementation of REDD+ activities (Section 3.1), (iii) the risks and challenges of private sector involvement in REDD+ and approaches to deal with these (Section 3.2) and, most important, (iv) the policy scenarios that are most likely to rapidly mobilise capital from the private sector at the required scale while actively addressing the concerns and risks of private sector participation (Section 5.2). The report highlights – on the basis of scenario analysis – how any future mechanism should combine different features to increase its effectiveness and efficiency.en
