In March 2019, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the Decade to scale up efforts to prevent, halt and reverse ecosystem degradation while encouraging broad stakeholder participation, including women, children, young people, older persons, persons with disabilities, Indigenous Peoples and local communities. The document defines the Task Force’s advisory role, functions, composition, decision-making processes, membership criteria, operational arrangements and collaboration mechanisms to ensure meaningful youth participation in ecosystem restoration initiatives and related policy processesen
