Written submissions prior to OEWG 2: Science-Policy Panel to contribute further to the sound management of chemicals and waste and to prevent pollution

This submission presents input to inform proposals for establishing a science policy panel to support the sound management of chemicals and waste and prevent pollution, with a specific focus on plastic pollution. It analyses how the proposed panel could interact with a prospective global plastics instrument, drawing on United Nations Environment Assembly resolutions and examining ten science policy interface functions across the four phases of the policy cycle. The document outlines options for institutional arrangements, including division of labour in agenda setting, policy formulation, implementation and evaluation.
