dc.descriptionCommunity Service Learning (CSL) is a philosophy and practice developed out of the education and environmental movement in the 1960’s and 1970’s. When it was recognized that traditional teaching methods were failing in many countries, educational reform efforts shifted towards practical, student centered approaches including CSL (Iverson & Espenschied-Reilly, 2010). Generally, CSL is a form of experiential learning that includes planning, action, and reflection through applied social engagement (Phillipson-Mower & Adams, 2010). It aims to benefit the students, teachers, and the recipients of the service.en
