UNEP is releasing a new COP30 Factsheet Series exploring the most critical adaptation and mitigation themes shaping today’s global climate agenda. The series equips readers with clear, accessible insights into the debates, decisions, and expected outcomes across priority themes. This factsheet focuses on National Adaptation Plans. The National Adaptation Plan (NAP) approach was established under the Cancun Adaptation Framework (CAF) in 2010 at COP16 to help countries embed adaptation in development decision making and to move away from short-term, project based adaptation efforts towards more strategic longer-term climate-resilient development.en
