dc.descriptionThe environmental aspects of the motor vehicle and its use were first brought under review by UNEP at the Seminar on the Motor Vehicle and the Environment, held in 1976. Material gathered in association with the Seminar and subsequently during the on-going correspondence and consultation with experts from Governments, industry and international institutions throughout the world, has been summarized in UNEP's over-view and technical booklets. As a follow-up to the seminar, a UNEP Environmental Consultative Committee on the Motor Vehicle was convened and a first meeting held in 1978 as part of the on-going process of communication and consultation on environmental aspects of the motor vehicle and its use.en
