This publication is a compilation of methods that have been used for analysing groundwater recharge in arid and semi-arid regions around the world. Some of these are direct methods, such as the soil moisture budget by neutron or TDR probes, water balance methods such as the river channel water balance, or rainfall-recharge relationships, which are the most common techniques. Others include the Darcyan methods, such as the numerical flow model, which can use many types of information, and tracer methods, such as the tritium-helium 3 method. Each method is presented with notes on their application and utilisation.en
