| dc.description | This document warns that, even if Paris pledges are met, 2030 emissions of 54–56 GtCO2e would leave a 12–14 Gt gap to a 2 °C pathway and put the world on track for 2.9–3.4 °C warming this century; it calls for roughly a further 25% cut by 2030. It cites record heat in 2015 and early 2016 and notes risks of delay, including carbon-intensive lock-in and higher transition costs. Proposed levers include faster pre-2020 action, wider non-state initiatives, and scaled energy efficiency, where US$20–100 per tCO2 measures could deliver about 5.9 Gt (buildings), 4.1 Gt (industry), and 2.1 Gt (transport) by 2030, alongside rising investment. The Kigali Amendment could avert ~0.5 °C if fully implemented, and renewable and efficiency projects in developing countries are projected to cut nearly 0.5 Gt by 2020. | en |
