Draft Ministerial Declaration of the seventh session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7) Advancing sustainable solutions for a resilient planet

This document is a draft ministerial declaration for UNEA-7 that frames biodiversity and “Mother Earth” as foundational to human well-being and calls for transformative, ecocentric change guided by Indigenous Peoples’ worldviews. It reaffirms prior UNEA and IPBES frameworks, notes UN Harmony with Nature processes, and recognizes diverse value systems, including rights of Nature and rights of Mother Earth, as integral to implementing the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. It requests UNEP to create an international platform on Living-Well principles, develop a global outlook on recognition and implementation of Mother Earth’s rights, and report on progress.
